In February 2007, Texol completed the project for the Lactic Acid Hydrolysis Assembly for National Chemical Laboratory, Pune. The unit is designed to study and demonstrate the experiments to produce 99% pure food grade Lactic Acid. The set up includes a polypropylene agitated reactor for Crude lactic acid production from calcium lactate, a Reactive distillation set up with 5 meter packed bed distillation column in glass and stainless steel, a Lactic Acid hydrolysis unit with three glass distillation columns.
This plant has a PC-PLC (Allen Bradley) based control system.
